Relationships are what makes a rich life. Relationship with God and relationship with others. Relationships need investment if you want it to grow, or perhaps even to start. Giving a good first impression, better yet gaining trust is a start of a good relationship.
God has invested so much into the relationship between God and me. I am so thankful for what He did for me and who He is. He invested in our relationship first. He did it so extravagantly. I know He is unchanging and it is my role to respond to Him.
He has taught us a sample of relationship building. We need to invest first if we want to build a good relationship with others. Yes, rules, boundaries, expectation control etc are important, but good relationship will not even start if I don’t invest in others first. This is same for personal as well as business relationships.
Sometimes we are afraid to build relationship with certain people. We may be intimidated or have certain preconceived opinions for a person. In 1 John 4:18 it says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear…” It is love that drives out fear of building relationships. We know that we can’t muster out love by our will power. But the Holy Spirit can give us the love that is needed to drive out fear. God is inviting us to grow in love. He is love and is the best teacher.
Bible sometimes appear to be very ideologic. But when we believe in God it becomes very practical. I wish to live a rich life by learning to love. And all I need to do is surrender each day to the Holy Spirit’s leading!
